Melissa Ford is the author of the extremely successful blog Stirrup Queens and Sperm Palace Jesters, which receives 2000 visitors per day and has hundreds of subscribers. Her blog has been described as one-stop shopping for everything infertility, adoption, or loss related from her enormous blogroll to her on-going projects. Navigating the Land of If is a natural outgrowth from the community that has sprung up around the blog and almost 1500 bloggers and blog reader contributed their story to the book.

Melissa Ford received her BA in creative writing and anthropology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and her MFA in creative writing from the University of Massachusetts–Amherst. She worked with Jay Neugeboren and John Edgar Wideman while obtaining her MFA, and taught English and history at the middle school level for six years. She lives outside Washington DC with her family, twins conceived through fertility treatments (sparing you the trouble of asking) and her husband, writer Joshua Ford.
